Straq is a young company founded in the Netherlands in 2020 with the mission to create innovative builders hardware with improved user-friendliness and new application possibilities. The initial focus was on developing a new line of concealed hinges. This specific product requires significant expertise for installation and is increasingly being used in the high-end segment of door products. The first concept designs and prototypes of surface-mounted concealed hinges for flush and rebated doors were created in the early years of the company’s founding. Extensive testing, optimization, and production preparation of the first concealed hinge model have been carried out in the past two years. 

Founder of Straq, Willem Jan de Visser, has a product development background in builders hardware and folding mobility products for over 20 years. Extensive experience in developing folding products like prams created the knowhow and skills to develop a completely new design of surface mount hinge that offers new possibilities. The first functional prototypes were built in his workshop in Haarlem.
